Additional Services Offered
Radon Testing:
Apex can do radon testing for an additional fee. Radon is a radioactive gas that cannot be seen, smelled or tasted. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in almost all soils and rocks.
Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into homes through cracks and openings in the foundation. If trapped inside a home, radon can build up to unsafe levels. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) recommends that you test your home for radon, as it is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. today.
Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon. Testing is conducted by placing two radon test in an area of the home over a 48-72 hour time frame. Once completed, the test are retrieved and forwarded to our testing laboratory for the results.
Sewer Scope Inspections:
Apex can do sewer scope inspection for an additional fee. A sewer scope is an inspection of the sewer line. It is performed by inserting a mini video camera into the sewer line and viewing the condition of the pipe. The pipe is visually inspected for such defects as root intrusion, pipe separation, standing water and a broken or collapsed line.
Sewer scope inspections have become very popular in recent years for prospective home buyers. If no problems are detected, buyers gain peace of mind knowing that. If problems are detected, repair expenses can be deducted from the asking price or negotiated by both parties prior to closing.
